Patti Wallace is a UKCP Registered
Psychotherapist and BACP Registered Counsellor with over 25 years
experience of clinical practice, supervision and service management
in the field of mental health and psychological therapy. She is
an experienced trainer and educator who has designed and delivered
training programmes to meet the needs of a wide range of organisations
in Canada, East Africa and Britain.
She has several years experience
as a senior manager in organisations which employ diverse populations
and where her responsibilities included investigation of complaints
and conflict resolution. She developed, trained and now supervises
the mediator service within Roehampton University of Surrey.
She is currently Principal Lecturer
in the School of Psychology and Therapeutic Studies for Roehampton
University of Surrey where she is responsible for curriculum development,
delivery and staff management of the postgraduate professional training
in counselling, psychotherapy and counselling psychology. In the
academic setting, she has designed and delivered programmes from
certificate to doctoral level and she is external examiner to a
number of UK universities.
As a trainer of health and social
care professionals and as a clinician, her expertise lies in the
fields of working with diversity, serious illness/mental illness
and disability, suicide and self-harm, addictions and professional
ethics and the law. She has provided training in these fields to
psychologists and educators from Spain, Italy, Portugal and Japan
and to such UK organisations as Childline.
She is co-author of a core text
in the field of education on the use of peer interventions and mediation
to address issues of bullying and social exclusion amongst young
people and has presented at major conferences. Whist working alongside
senior medical staff at the National Hospital in Kenya, she was
responsible for the development of the first counselling approach
suitable for work with indigenous and refugee populations in East
Africa.
Patti is a lively and widely experienced
trainer and her courses are always popular.
